Abstract: Rate and equilibrium constants for the reactions of Pyronin, 3, 6-bis (dimethylamino) xanthylium cation, and of Thiopyronin, 3, 6-bis (dimethylamino) thioxanthylium cation, with several anionic and amine nucleophiles in water and methanol solutions have been determined.
