Phenyl(β-indolyl)iodonium trifluoroacetate was reacted with various alkyl and aryllithiums (CH 3 , -C 4 H 9 , C 3 H 5 , C 6 H 5 ) in BF 3 Et 2 O/THF to yield C 3 -alkylation and arylation of the indole nucleus with reductive elimination of iodobenzene. ...
