Biological Activity

[Description]:

Isoborneol ((±)-Isoborneol) is a monoterpenoid alcohol present in the essential oils of numerous medicinal plants and has antioxidant and antiviral properties. Isoborneol is a potent inhibitor of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1)[1][2].

[Related Catalog]:

Research Areas >> Infection
Research Areas >> Neurological Disease

[Target]

HSV-1

[In Vitro]

Isoborneol ((±)-Isoborneol) protects against 6-OHDA-induced increases in caspase-3 activity and cytochrome C translocation into the cytosol from mitochondria. Isoborneol prevents 6-OHDA from decreasing the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio[1].
