In Vitro FCE 28654 is an inhibitor of ACAT, weakly inhibiting ACAT in microsomes from rabbit aorta and intestine, and monkey liver, with IC50s of 2.55, 1.08 and 5.69 μM, respcetively[1].
In Vivo FCE 28654 (15 mg/kg, p.o.) dramatically decreases blood cholesterol and modifies the hepatic cholesterol pattern via enhancing the free/esterified cholesterol ratio, in hypercholesterolemic rats. FCE 28654 (100 mg/kg, p.o.) also reduces microsomal ACAT activity rat plasma[1].
