Biological Activity

[Description]:

Succinic acid tromethamine is a potent and orally active anxiolytic agent. Succinic acid tromethamine is an intermediate product of the tricarboxylic acid cycle. Succinic acid tromethamine can be used as a precursor of many industrially important chemicals in food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries[1][2][3].

[In Vitro]

Succinic acid tromethamine is derived from the fermentation of agricultural carbohydrates[2].

[In Vivo]

Succinic acid tromethamine (3, 6 mg/kg; p.o.) increases the percentage of entries into open arms and of time spent on open arms in male mice[3]. Succinic acid tromethamine (3, 6, 12 mg/kg; i.p.) significant increases in food intake during 5 min, and 40 min after drug administration rectal temperature was measured, succinic acid at a dose of 1.5 mg/kg, inhibited stress-induced hyperthermia[3].
