Biological Activity

[Description]:

Canrenoate (Aldadiene) potassium, a prodrug that releases canrenone, is a potent, competitive mineralocorticoid receptor (aldosterone receptor) antagonist. Potassium canrenoate, as a diuretic, is used for the research of hypertension[1][2][3].

[Related Catalog]:

Research Areas >> Cardiovascular Disease
Signaling Pathways >> Metabolic Enzyme/Protease >> Mineralocorticoid Receptor

[In Vivo]

Potassium canrenoate has been shown to cause in rats a dose-dependent increase in myelogenous leukemia and statistically significant increases in malignant tumor of the liver, thyroid, brain and mammary gland[2][3]. Potassium canrenoate (20 mg/kg/day; drinking water) reduces isoprenaline-induced cardiac fibrosis in the rat[4].
