Abstract
Various ketones and allyl alcohol were allowed to react at elevated temperatures to give alpha allyl-substituted ketones. The influence of the reaction time, temperature, reactant ratio, and catalysts on the course of the reaction wa~ studied. The presence of an allyl group on an alpha carbon atom of a ketone inhibits further reaction at that atom. A reaction mechanism is proposed.
