Abstract
• Beneficial effects of combination therapy with vildagliptin plus miglitol on glucose tolerance of db/db mice were evaluated. • Postprandial glucose- and incretin response was normalized by the combination therapy. • Diabetes onset of db/db mice was prevented by the combination therapy. • Preservation of normal islet morphology seems to be the key for the beneficial effects.
