Abstract
The mono-n-dodecyl, tetradecyl, hexadecyl, and octadecyl ethers of mono-to tetraethylene glycol, R (OCH&H*) iOH, were synthesized from alkyl halides or tosylates or by alkali- catalyzed reaction of alcohols with ethylene oxide. In the dodecyl, tetradecyl, and hexadecyl series, freezing-point minima occurred ati= 3.
