Abstract
To a refluxing solution of 199 mg. of the olefin I1 in 10 ml. of glacial acetic acid, 200 mg. of chromium trioxide was adtlcd portionwise. Refluxiiig was coutiiiued for oric hour.'I'he rl: actioii mixture was cooled and poured onto ice; the rcsiiltiiig solid was washed by decantation with water, dilute sodiiim hydroxide solution, and water agaiii.
