Abstract Metallacycles are formed upon thermolysis of (s-trans-η 4-butadiene) zirconocene and binuclear (η 2-aldehyde) zirconocene complexes or photolysis of diphenylzirconocene in the presence of t-butyl-, trimethylsilyl-, and phenyl-acetylene.
