Abstract

Recently, we reported the cross-coupling of benzylic carbonates 1 with arylboronic acids 2 (Scheme 1). 8 The reaction proceeded successfully in DMF with a DPPPent–palladium catalyst. However, the optimal reaction conditions failed to trigger the reaction of benzylic acetates 4, which were more accessible than carbonates 1.
