Abstract
ω-Functionalized F-alkyl iodides are useful building blocks of compounds containing perfluoroalkyl segments in an inner position. A convenient and effective synthesis of methyl 9-iodo-perflorononanoate, a precursor molecule of this kind, is described, as well as the synthesis of a member of a new class of amphiphiles, called reverse F-amphiphiles.
