Abstract
Abstract Cyclic meso-2-ene-1, 4-diol diesters undergo desymmetrization and cycloalkenyl esters undergo dynamic kinetic asymmetric transformations with excellent enantioselectivity when nitromethane and 2-nitropropane are used in the reaction (see scheme). A short synthesis of carbanucleosides also emerges.
