Abstract
Secondary β-deuterium isotope effects on amine basicities are measured using a remarkably precise NMR titration method. Deuteration is found to increase the basicity of methylamine, dimethylamine, benzylamine, N, N-dimethylaniline, 2-methyl-2- azanorbornane, and pyrrolizidine.
