Abstract

(1) In general, compoundat of the type RtH and RrCl (where Rr is a polyfluoro group) are chemically extremely inert and have not been reported to be useful for further synthetic work. For example, the free radical catalyzed addition of ethylene to RrCI has not been reported, whereas RrBr reacts with ethylene in the presence of free radical generating catalysts to yield Rt (CHzCHz), Br; KC Smeltz, U. 9.
