Abstract
Alkenylidene bisphenols are prepared by condensation of an appropriate phenol with a haloacetaldehyde, followed by base-induced elimination, or by condensation of the corresponding aryl methyl ether, elimination, and deprotection of the phenol with boron tribromide.
