Abstract

The reactivities of C2Hy+, C4Hy+, and C6Hy+(0 I y I 7) ions with acetylene have been investigated with a selected ion flow tube operating at room temperature. Rate coefficients and products for each reactant ion have been identified. The predominant mechanism observed was association thereby providing a pathway for the efficient conversion of C2Hy+ cations into C6-and C8-based cyclic hydrocarbons.
