Abstract
The chemospecific production and intramolecular aromatic electrophilic substitution (annulation) of bis (phenylthio) carbocations (bisphenylthionium ions) has been studied using appropriate model compounds. The annulation reaction is very sensitive to the Lewis acid initiator and also the solvent.
