Abstract

Silyl enol ethers bearing three pentafluorophenyl groups at the silicon atom are described. These compounds undergo uncatalyzed aldol reactions with aliphatic, α, β-unsaturated, and aromatic aldehydes. The observed reactivity is analyzed in terms of the Lewis acidity of the silyl fragment.
