Abstract

The formation and reactions of hydroxyl radicals in aqueous solutions have been the object of numerous investigations. Wieland2 observed that hydrogen peroxide in the presence of cupric ions degrades stable organic compounds, like benzoic acid, to carbon dioxide and water.
