Abstract
Discussion Chlorination of 1-Chloro-3-buten-2-01 (I).-We have observed the addition of chlorine to 1-chloro-3-buten-2-ol (I) to be complicated considerably by side reactions, as is also apparently the case with allyl alcoh01.~ In our experiments polymeric ethers were obtained along with the expected 1, 3, 4-trichlorobutan-2-01 (11). This is understandable on the basis of a two-stage mech-
