Abstract
Results Treatment of 3-chloro-3-methyl-2-butanone (1) with 2 mol equiv of lithium diisopropylamide in dry tetrahydrofuran (freshly distilled from sodium benzophenone ketyl) at 0" C gave rise to a vigorous reaction from which, after 1 h reaction time and aqueous workup, a complex reaction mixture was isolated.
