Abstract
Abstract When refluxed in aqueous hydrochloric acid solution, 1, 5, 8, 12-tetraazadodecane- glyoxal bisaminal is quantitatively converted into its amidinium salt, which is a lactam precursor. The mechanism of this unexpected reaction is discussed.(© Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2003)
