Abstract

Polarographic Study of Various Diphenyl Disulfides BY EUGENE L. COLICHMAN' AND DANIEL L. LOVE^ RECEIVED MAY 22, 1953 The biologically important cystine-cysteine sys- tem has been investigated by both potentiometric and polarographic methods. Kolthoff and Lin- gane3 have summarized and discussed these in- vestigations. It is seen that the disulfide linkage is usually reduced irreversibly to mercaptans at the dropping-mercury electrode.
