Abstract
Abstract Thermolysis of cyclobutanediones in hydrocarbon solvents shows marked dependence on structure and may involve bis-decarbonylation to olefins, monodecarbonylation with rearrangement to cyclopentenone derivatives, or rearrangement without loss of carbon monoxide.
