Abstract

CzHsO--C-(CH3) 3 4-Nz+ Ci” CHN2(6) that a-substitution on the acyl portion of the nitrosoamide markedly increases the rate of decom osition. The compound selected, N-(n- butyR-N-nitroso-trimethylacetamide (IV) proved quite satisfactory for our study of the reaction, since in pentane at room temperature the rate of decomposition of IV exceeded the rate of thermal decomposition of diazoethane.
