Abstract: The properties of the 2, 7-dihalofluorenylidenes (Cl, Br, I) were examined by laser and EPR spectroscopy and by conventional chemical analyses. Their reactions with alcohols and olefins were studied. No evidence was found for the operation of a heavy atom effect in their reaction with methyl alcohol.
