Abstract
1. Nineteen new compounds have been prepared and studied. This group includes the menthyl esters of 0-, m- and p-nitrocinnamic acids, 0-, m- and p-aminocinnamic acids, 6-dimethylaminocinnamic acid and p-aminobenzoic acid. 2. Menthyl cinnamate was obtained for the first time as a crystalline substance. 3. Rotation values of eleven new menthol compounds have been reported. 4. The effect of the amino group upon rotation has been observed. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
