Abstract

The pseudo-firsborder rate constant for decomposition of 2a in 5% CHSCN-H20, 1.1= 0.5 M (KCl), T= 40 OC, is pH dependent (Figure 1) but is not dependent on buffer concentration in phosphate, borate, or carbonate buffers. The pH-independent rate constant, ko, of (1.36 f 0.04) X sl is comparable to the rate constant of (1.7 f 0.1) X sl previously obtained from only three measurementa in the pH range 1. &7. 0!
