Abstract
3 4 5 of formic acid gave 2-amino-4-butoxy-6-(1-hydroxy-ethyl) pteridine (9a) and 2-amino-4- butoxy-6-(1-meth-oxyethyl) pteridine (10) in 31% and 2% yields, respectively (Scheme 1). Similarly, 7 and formyloxirane 8b or 8c gave the 6-hydroxyalkylpteridine (M) or 9c).
