Abstract
Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley reductions of aldehydes and ketones' and Oppenauer oxidations of alcohols2 have been known for a long time. 3 These reactions are useful tools for the synthesis of vitamins and steroids@ but otherwise have restricted synthetic applications.
