Abstract: The thermal and catalyzed carbonyl addition reactions of alkyl-and arylthiosilanes, RSSiMe3, have been studied. Contrary to earlier literature reports, it has been found that thiosilanes react with aldehydes and ketones to form either thioketals or 0- silylhemithioketals when various acid catalysts are employed.
