Abstract
The effect of chain length on the regioselectivity and rate of monochlorination of C6H50R (1: a, R= n-C5H11; b, R= n-CgHIg; c, R= n-ClzH25) with C12 in micellar sodium dodecyl sulfate was determined. On going from la to lb to IC, only modest changes were observed in the para/ortho product ratio and in relative rate.
