Abstract

The synthesis of 3-cyclopentylppridine and 4-cyclopentplpyridine has shown that two CmH132r bases from petroleuiii were incorrectly identified as 3-cyclopentplpyridine and 4- cyclopentylpyridine. 2-C~ clopentylppridine has been successfully alkylated on the cyclopentane ring with methyl iodide in an ammonia solution of sodamide to form 2-(l- methylcyclopentyl)-pyridine.
