Abstract

Since certain basic esters of@-substituted a-phenyl-P-hydroxypropionic acids have been found to be potent anti~ pasmodics,~~~ a further study of such esters seemed desirable. All of the acids except 11, required for the preparation of the esters described in this paper, were obtained by reaction of the chloromagnesium derivative of chloromagnesium phenyl acetate (I)(an Ivanov reagent) with the following aldehydes and ketones: cyclopentane~ ...
