Abstract
Abstract Direct reaction of 2, 2′-dilithiobibenzyl with (CH 3) 2 MCl 2 or (C 6 H 5) 2 MCl 2 where M Si, Ge, Sn, or Pb results in the formation of 10, 11-dihydro-5H-dibenzo-[b, f] metallepins. The germanium derivaives were successfully converted to 5, 5-dimethyl-and 5, 5-diphenyl-5H-dibenzo [b, f] germepin by bromination followed by dehydrobromination with 1, 5-diazabicyclo [4.3. 0] non-5-ene.
