Abstract

I I1 o,o'-Dilithiobibenzyl, prepared by a metal halo- gen interchange between butyllithium and di- bromobibenzyl, was allowed to react with butyl borate in ether solution at about -70". After hydrolysis, the products of the reaction were esteri- fied with butyl alcohol and distilled. Compound I was obtained in 42y0 yield from the reaction of the impure butyl ester with ethanolamine.
