Abstract
Introduction The alkylation of monoalkylbenzenes by the alcohol-boron fluoride-phosphorus pentoxide method, previously describedJ2 has now been found to be an excellent method for the prepara- tion of certain p-dialkylbenzenes. Toluene and ethylbenzene have been so alkylated and give excellent yields with normal alcohols, particularly in the range Cq to Clz.
