Abstract
Summary: A method for preparation of enantiomerically pure a-hydroxy esters by stereoselective reduction of chiral a-keto eaters under convenient conditions (LiAlH (OCEt& THF, 0 OC) has been developed. The compounds exo, exo-3-(arybulfonamido)-2-bomeol and exo, ex0-2-(arylsulfona-mido)-3-borneol have been used as novel auxiliaries to achieve highly diastereoselective reductions.
