Abstract
Whitmore and Sommer'have studied the reactivity of chloromethyltrimethylsilane relative to the reactivity of n-hexyl chloride in a series of nine reactions involving replacement of the chlorine, sometimes in alkaline solution, and apparently without isolation of the products of the reactions. The subsequent work of Krieble and Elliott2 showed that alkaline reagents caused hydrolytic cleavage of chloromethylsiloxanes. Speier and Daubert3 similarly ...
