Abstract
Abstract Aliphatic nitriles react with tris (3-trimethylsilylpropyl) aluminium forming 1- trimethylsilyl-alkan-4-ones upon hydrolysis while benzonitrile is reduced to benzaldehyde even at room temperature. The properties of the complex and the course of the reaction have been investigated spectroscopically.
