Abstract

In attempts to prepare diethylaminoethyl 4-amino-2-chlorobenzoate, the catalytic hydrogenation of the corresponding 4-nitro-acid, its ethyl and its P-diethylaminoethyl ester was studied. A number of side reactions were observed which made the method impractical from a preparative point of view.
