Abstract

Among nitrogen-containing biologically active organic compounds, chiral amines represent an important class for the development of active pharmaceutical ingredients and other pharmaceutical intermediates. Despite their prime importance in the pharmaceutical industry, the economically viable and practical asymmetric synthesis of chiral amines poses significant challenges to organic chemists. 1 One such chiral amine of interest to Sepracor is (R)-didesmethylsibutramine ( ...
