Abstract
The malonic ester synthesis is one of the most fundamental methodologies in organic synthesis. 1 The reaction has been widely used for the preparation of mono-and disubstituted acetic acids via mono-and dialkylation, respectively, and subsequent hydrolysis and decarboxylation.
