Abstract

The carbohydrate sequence BD-Galp-(1+ 3)-D-GalNAc is widely distributed in nature, either in 0-glycoproteins or in glycolipids such as the gang&gangliosides. In 0-glycoproteins, this disaccharide is linked a-~-(1+ 3) to serine or threonine, and usually further glycosylated.
