Abstract
The noti-catalytic bromination of t-butylbenzene in 85Yc acetic acid at 25" yields 1.205; 0-, 1.4 ic; h m-and-97.39; p-bromo-t-butylbenzene. Under these conditions the relative rate of bromination of benzene to t-butylbeiizene is 1.00/138. These data provide the partial rate factors 01 4.7, mi 6.1 and pf 806. Greater than 99% 2-and 3-brorno-4-t-butyltoluetie arc formed in the bromination of pt-butyltoluene. The isomer distribution for the non-catalytic ...
