Abstract

Sir: 2,3-Dialkylatecl ketone and enone sub-units are present in a broad spectrum of naturally occurring sub- stances. In the past 10 years there has been intense in- terest in the synthesis of many of these compounds, most notably in the field of prostaglandins.' In principle, these compounds are accessible via the conjugate addition of a cuprate to an enone, followed by alkylation of the resulting enolate.
