Abstract
The Mannich dimethylaminomethylation of carbonyl compounds is conveniently carried out via enol trimethylsilyl ethers by a combination of chloroiodomethane (CH 2 ClI) and N, N, N′, N′-tetramethylmethanediamine (TMMD) in DMSO as the solvent at ambient temperature.
