Abstract
Alkyl (carbazol-9-yl)(benzotriazol-l-yl) methanes are deprotonated by BuLi to form anions which react with alkyl halides, aldehydes, and isocyanates to afford the expected products and which add 1, 4 to a, b-unsaturated ketones. These products are hydrolyzed by dilute acid at ambient temperature to afford the corresponding ketones.
